Jammu and Kashmir is a region administered by India as a union territory. The capital of Jammu & Kashmir is Jammu(winter), Srinagar(Summer). Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir's largest city, is located on the Jhelum River. Jammu and Kashmir's population in 2020 is estimated to be 13.6 million (1.3 crores). The HDI rank of J&K is 17 (0.688). Baramullah to Bninhal is Well connected through railway tracks on one side of the valley. The overall literacy rate of J&K is 77.3 percent. Jammu and Kashmir are famously known as the "paradise on Earth" because of their gorgeous valleys, mountains, lakes, forests, and meadows. 
The pleasant climate of Kashmir valley the paradise on earth has remained an internationally acclaimed tourist destination.  

Gulmarg: Gulmarg one of the top honeymoon destinations in India, Surrounded by snow-covered lofty Himalayas, meadows of flowers, deep ravines, evergreen forests valleys. Jammu and Kashmir is an important tourist destination and has been a place of attraction for tourists for centuries.


Amarnath: Amarnath is one of the most important pilgrimages in India for the worshippers of Lord Shiva.


Tullian lake: The color of the Tullian lake is turquoise blue and it looks attractive with several lumps of ice floating in it.



Jammu region-the land of temples is attracting a large number of pilgrim tourists.

 Vaishno Devi temple: The important destination has been the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.



 


Zero Bridge: The zero bridge is an old wooden arch bridge located in the city of Srinagar in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.  It crosses the Jhelum river in a roughly north-south direction connecting Sonwar in the north to Rajbhag in the South.



Dal Lake: Dal Lake in Srinagar is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Kashmir valley. Dal lake attracts tourists from all over the world. It is also the second-largest lake in Jammu and Kashmir.






Tulip Garden: 30 hectares Tulip Garden, which is Asia's biggest garden to date. Located in the foothills of the Zabarwan Range.





Raghunath Mandir: Raghunath Temple, with seven shrines each with its own `Shikhara`, (shikhara, a Sanskrit word translating literally to `mountain peak`, refers to the rising tower in the Hindu temple architecture in north India) is one of the largest temple complexes of north India, located in Jammu city. 







The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH1A) is considered to be the most expensive road for maintenance in the world.




The majority of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are engaged in subsistence agriculture of diverse kinds on terraced slopes. Horticulture played a vital role in the economic development of the state; produce included apples, apricots, cherries, pears, plums, almonds, and walnuts. Srinagar airport has been upgraded as an international airport named as Sheikh-ul-Alam airport. The economy of Jammu and Kashmir was predominantly dependent on agriculture and related activities.
