 Mussoorie 





is popular as the Queen of Hills, a hill station located in the Nainital district of the state of Uttarakhand. It is a city located at an altitude of 1880 meters above sea level at the foothills of the great mountain Himalayas. This hill station offers spectacular views of the Shivalik ranges and the Doon valleys. This place is also considered the gateway to the religious centers of Yamunotri and Gangotri.

Place Around Mussoorie

The name Masur is derived from Mansuri, Mansoor is a type of shrub that was once found in abundance in the region. Mostly it is also called Mansoori by many people. This beautiful hill station is popular for the ancient temples, hills, waterfalls, valleys, wildlife sanctuaries, and educational institutions located here. Jwala Devi Temple, Nag Devta Temple, and Bhadraj Temple are some of the famous religious places in and around Mussoorie. 

The Jwala Devi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. Located at an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level, This temple holds great religious significance among Hindus. An idol made of stone is installed in this temple. Apart from this, other temples have the Nag Devta temple dedicated to the God of Nagas. A large number of devotees visit this temple during the Hindu festival Nag Panchami.

This destination is famous for the beautiful hills located here, Gun Hill, Lal Tibba, and Nag Tibba. Gan Hill is situated at an altitude of 2122 m above sea level. It is the second tallest hill in Mussoorie which holds immense historical Importance. During the pre-independence era, the cannon was fired every afternoon from this hill, so that local people could be told the time. At that time people used to set their watches accordingly. Presently, the Mussoorie water reservoir is located on this hill. A walk on the ropeway is very popular among tourists here on the hill.

Lal Tibba is the highest point of Mussoorie and is also called Depot Hill as a depot is located in this area. All India Radio and Doordarshan's towers are located on this hill. The Indian Military Service is also located on this hill. A Japanese telescope was also placed on this hill in 1967 for the convenience of tourists. Through this telescope, tourists can see the nearby areas of Bandherpuch, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Nag Tibba is another popular hill in Mussoorie. And is also known as Nag Peak. Tourists can also enjoy many adventure sports by coming here.

The place is also known for its beautiful waterfalls, namely, Kempty Falls, Jharipani Falls, Bhatta Falls, and Mosi Falls. Kempty waterfall is very popular among tourists visiting Mussoorie, which is situated at an altitude of 4500 feet above sea level. Impressed by the beauty of the place, a British officer, John Mackinnon, turned it into a tourist destination. Jharipani waterfall is also very popular among the tourists here. Situated in the village of Jharipani, it is a famous destination and an ideal destination for adventure tourists and adventure lovers. Bhatta Falls and Mossy Falls, 7 km from Mussoorie. Is located at a distance.

Apart from being a beautiful tourist destination, Mussoorie is also famous for its educational institutions. There are many European schools that were opened during British rule. The place also has some of the best and oldest boarding schools such as St. George, Oak Grove, and Wynberg Allen. How to reach

Mussoorie is easily connected to other parts of India by air, rail, and road. The nearest airbase to this destination is Jolly Grant Airport, which is built-in Dehradun. The distance of this airport from Mussoorie is 60 km. is. The Dehradun railway station is the nearest railhead to the destination.

Mussoorie Weather 










The weather in Mussoorie is very pleasant every month of the year which attracts a large number of tourists every year. This hill station looks beautiful in all seasons. However, the ideal time to visit Mussoorie is between March to June and September to November.
