 Kannur

more popularly known as its ancient name Kannanore, is a northern district of Kerala famous for its vibrant culture and rich heritage. The region shares its borders with the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea, where abundant natural beauty and cultural traditions are depicted. During ancient times, the district used to be a commercial center of the Malabar region in addition to the cultural and religious areas. The culture of many empires in Kannur reflects the region's strength and passion. The history of this place dates back to the pre-Bible period, it is said that King Solomon used to anchor his ships on the banks of Kannur. The long tales of the Dutch, Portugal, Mysore Sultanate, and British invasions have changed the history of the region in an unprecedented direction.

Kannur,  often called the land of traditional knowledge and weaving, attracts the attention of the entire world due to its unique fabric-making method and forms of folk songs sung in temples such as Theyattam, etc. The most famous temples in Kannur are Sundareswara Temple, Kottiyur Shiva Temple, Orphazhassi Kavu Temple, Sri Mavilayakkavu Temple, Sri Raghavapuram Temple, Sri Subrahmanyam Swamy Temple, and Kizhakakkara Sri Krishna Temple. Kannur is best known and the sandy beaches are spread over vast stretches of the region, providing both comfort and pleasure to the visiting tourists. During this time the temperature of Kannur is 16 ° C.

Kannur is well connected to all parts of India by rail and road. Due to the proximity of the coastal belts, the weather here provides a pleasant climate throughout the year, tourists can visit the region at any time of the year. By train

The railway station at Kannur is one of the major railway stations in North Kerala which is well connected to major cities and towns in India. Regular trains run from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore, Chennai, New Delhi, Pune, and Mumbai. The railway station of Kannur is located in the center of the city and tourists can hire taxis, rickshaws, or even take a bus tour to the city from here.

By air

 Kannur does not have an airport of its own. The nearest airports are located at Mangalore (150 km) and Calicut (125 km). Calicut is an international airport that is well connected to many cities in India such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, New Delhi, and Mumbai. Taxis to Kannur are available from both Calicut and Mangalore airports. Buses to Kannur are also available from these cities.
